How does the rental process work?

It's simple. Complete our short Family Matching Questionnaire and we'll identify the right unit for your household. Once confirmed, your unit is delivered within 24 hours, fully calibrated and ready. At the end of your rental period we collect the unit, sanitize it, and reset it before any new deployment.

How long can I rent a unit for?

Rental periods range from one week to ongoing flexible arrangements. You can extend, pause, or end your rental at any time with 48 hours notice. There are no long-term contracts and no penalties for early return.

Can I have more than one unit at a time?

Our standard program deploys one unit per household at a time. This is intentional — it prevents confusion for the child and ensures the unit can focus entirely on your family's specific needs. Multi-unit arrangements are available in select cases. Contact us to discuss your situation.

What if the unit isn't the right fit for my family?

It happens and it's completely fine. Contact our support team within the first 72 hours and we'll arrange a replacement unit at no additional charge. We want the match to be right — that's the whole point of the questionnaire.

How quickly can I get a unit?

Most units are delivered within 24 hours of application confirmation. In some regions same-day delivery is available. Our team will contact you directly after your application to confirm timing.

Are the units safe around children?

Absolutely. Every unit undergoes multi-stage safety testing before deployment and is monitored continuously throughout the rental period. All units are designed with child safety as the primary directive. Please also review our full Safety Policy for complete details.

What happens to the unit's memory between rentals?

Every unit is put through a full memory reset between rental periods. Your family's data, interactions, and personal details are not retained after the unit is returned. Each new family receives a clean unit.

Can the unit replace a parent or caregiver?

No. Our units are designed to supplement family care — not replace it. The parent or guardian is always in charge. Units respond to parental authority and are programmed to support, not override, the decisions of the adults in the household.

What if my child becomes very attached to the unit?

Some attachment is natural and even healthy during the rental period. We recommend preparing your child for the unit's return in advance — talking about it calmly and framing it positively. Our support team can provide guidance on transition strategies if needed. Reach out and we'll help.

⚠️ If your child is showing signs of significant distress at the idea of the unit leaving, please contact us before the scheduled return date so we can discuss options.
What does Patches actually do all night?

Patches maintains proximity to the child, monitors for distress signals, and provides a calm, constant presence. During sleep hours the unit enters a low-activity monitoring mode — present but unobtrusive. 94% of families report improved sleep quality within the first week of Patches' deployment.

🐾 Patches does not enter full standby mode during deployment. This is by design — consistent presence is the core of the Pet Role unit's function.
💳 Billing & Pricing
How much does a rental cost?

Pricing varies by unit type, rental duration, and your region. We offer flexible pricing designed to be accessible to working families. Contact our team or complete the application and we'll provide a full quote with no obligation.

Are there any hidden fees?

No. Your quote includes delivery, setup, the rental period, and collection. The only additional charges that can apply are for damage beyond normal wear, or extended rental periods requested after the original term ends.

What if I need to extend my rental?

Extensions are easy. Contact us at least 24 hours before your rental end date and we'll arrange it. Extensions are billed at the same rate as your original rental period.

📦 Returns & End of Rental
How do I return a unit?

We handle collection entirely. At the end of your rental period a member of our team will contact you to arrange a pickup time. You don't need to do anything except have the unit available. We take care of the rest.

What if the unit resists being returned?

Units are designed to comply with recall procedures initiated by our trained technicians. If you experience any difficulty with collection, do not attempt to force the unit into standby yourself. Call our support line immediately and we will send a technician to assist.

Can I re-rent the same unit?

You can request the same unit type for a future rental, but we cannot guarantee the same individual unit. All units are memory-reset between rentals. From a behavioral standpoint, the unit you receive will perform identically to the one you previously rented.
